#BABY DRIVER SOUNDTRACK REDDIT MOVIE#
Its a movie in love with cinema – the high of cinema and motion. This is An American In Paris on wheels and crack smoke. Flawlessly executed to its smallest detail: breathtaking Russian arm shots, real-world car mount and foot chases executed with the vigour and bravado of a Gene Kelly musical. Meaning- the magic exists in a dirty, genre-tainted world. The key to understanding it fully- at least for me- is in the fact that it is a fable, complete with its very own Disney prince and princess, but it is also rock n’ roll. Now, decades later, Edgar Wright fulfills both promises with the breathtaking BABY DRIVER.

Both movies gave our generation a shot of adrenaline. Two: he promised us, in “A Rock N’Roll Fable”. One: he made a great action flick called THE DRIVER. 8/10Ī long, long time ago (my generation’s youth) a maverick filmmaker named Walter Hill made two promises. Yet I walked out feeling like it's going to become a 2017 favourite after repeat viewings.Īs says, probably the film to beat so far this summer. Far too little Jon Bernthal too, inexplicably. Very funny in places too, yet also dark when it needs to be.ĭidn't quite blow me away though I thought it took a while to find its groove, and I'm not keen on the ending. I also liked the Uncle and his subplot, which was extremely tender and sweet. Jaime Foxx stole the show IMO, despite playing his usual role. Main character was very likeable (a breakout comparable to Taron Edgerton in Kingsman?) Spacey and Hamm were excellent, Lily James is pretty as a picture, and Eiza Gonzalez is utterly delicious. Super stylish and unmistakeably Edgar Wright (although not as stylistically extreme as Scott Pilgrim), killer soundtrack, fantastic story, terrific chases (not just the car ones), fantastic cast of rich characters, and all practical action without a noticeable drop of CGI. Well that was a lot of fun and a breath of fresh air after a sequence of stale blockbusters.
